Thank you Tacoma voters!
. . . the 2014 Neighborhood Parks & Zoo Improvements and Safety Upgrades Bond has passed with 64.65% of the votes.
That means Tacoma citizens will see plenty of activity in their parks as projects continue to develop through 2024. This $198 million public investment will help preserve our more than century-old park system through districtwide capital priorities.
ABOUT THE BOND MEASURE . . .
The Board of Park Commissioners voted 4-0 on February 24, to prepare a capital bond measure for Parks & Zoo Improvements and Safety Upgrades that went before voters on April 22. The Board action followed multiple years of working with the public on the development of a comprehensive capital plan for park and recreation assets throughout our nearly 3,000-acre system. Through our planning processes with the community and staff review of system assets, Metro Parks identified and prioritized more than $500 million in needs system wide.
