Community members are the foundation behind, as well as the reason for, Metro Parks Tacoma. With helping hands, time, money, memberships and considerable effort, community members help keep Tacoma green and healthy.
Whether you're a sports enthusiast who wants to pass on lessons of teamwork, a senior with time and talent to give, or a student looking for course credit, we have a volunteer opportunity to fit your lifestyle.
Through Chip-in!, which stands for Citizens Helping Improve Parks, members of the community can volunteer their time to maintain, restore, and enhance their neighborhood parks and natural areas.
CITIZEN ADVISORY COUNCILS
Citizen advisory council members provide valuable input on Metro Parks Tacoma programs and facilities. They assess community needs and desires on such topics as policies, budgets, programming, operations and future needs, and then make recommendations to staff members and the Board of Park Commissioners.
TEEN LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Teen volunteers have fun, rack up senior project points, earn college & job references, make the community a better place, and make friends.
Metro Parks Tacoma offers a variety of internships designed to give you meaningful, supportive, rewarding and fun work as you gain experience in the real world.
We ask a lot of our employees, but we also want working here to be meaningful, supportive, rewarding and fun. We try to maintain an open, informal environment reflective of our core values: innovation, excellence, equity, inclusiveness, sustainability, accountability, safety and fun.
MEETINGS & WORKSHOPS
Find out how you can participate in upcoming discussions about potential projects in our parks and facilities.
Memberships are a great value for the price, allowing you to return again and again to enjoy the benefits of membership throughout the seasons. Your membership also shows your support for the work that is being done at individual Metro Parks Tacoma facilities.
