This park reflects the Ukrainian heritage of Zina Linnik (who was kidnapped and murdered in 2007) and is filled with activities she loved - a reading circle, playground with high tech interactive play equipment and tetherball.
PARK IMPROVEMENTS
2007-2010 - Celebrating the life of Zina Linnik - Making McCarver a safe place for children. New play equipment, spray ground, signage, landscape improvements and irrigation upgrades were completed. Partners included Hilltop Action Coalition, the Central Neighborhood Council, City of Tacoma, Tacoma School District, McCarver Elementary School and UW Tacoma Landscape Architecture Class. Design consultant was Raedke Assoc. and contractor was Advanced Construction. Work was funded by the Parks Improvement Bond Measure, approved by the citizens of Tacoma in November of 2005, fundraising by Greater Metro Parks Foundation ($618,788) and a Central Neighborhood Innovative Grant. More information about this project can be found on the Greater Metro Parks Foundation website.
