Metro Parks welcomes new School of the Arts liaison
Aug 30, 2009
Since the summer of 2005 Metro Parks has partnered with Tacoma School of the Arts (SOTA) to provide a large segment of its visual and performing arts programming. This fall we welcome Melisa Jennings, who is taking on the role of MPT-SOTA liaison and program coordinator. As part of her duties she will also coordinate Art SPARX and Art Trunk activities.
Melisa is not new to the Park District; she previously worked in the SPARX after-school program and also previously coordinated Art Trunk. For the past two years she has worked as an education specialist at the Tacoma Art Museum.
Leaving the position of liaison/coordinator is Melissa Moffet. She has been SOTA’s liaison to Metro Parks since the SOTA - MPT agreement was created in 2005 and has been instrumental in coordinating a wide variety classes and camps for all ages that have taken advantage of SOTA’s unique facilities and access to local art resources. The one and two week art camps for middle schoolers were especially popular all five years they have been offered.
This fall Moffet will be leaving us, although she’s not going far away. She’ll be at SOTA in her new position teaching Humanities.
Melisa Jennings can be reached beginning September 8 at 571-7957. Until then please refer all SOTA/Art SPARX questions and inquiries to Dave Griffith at 305-1036.
