Aug 30, 2009

Bank to Bay, held on September 13 in Tacoma, is an event that offers something for everyone, from runners and walkers, to wheelchair athletes, to kids and families alike. The USATF certified 10K/5K course is fast paced, offers terrific views, and includes live music.  There's a free 1K Kids' Run for children 10 and under and the first 200 kids to register receive a free T-shirt.

There's also free food and beverages, wellness activities including massages and skin cancer screenings, and all registered participants are eligible to win great prizes that are given out during the Award Ceremony. Bank to Bay was even labeled as one of the premier races in the Northwest in the 2006 NW Runner magazine. The course begins in the Museum District on Pacific Avenue and runs along Schuster Parkway to Ruston Way.

Bank to Bay has proudly supported the Tacoma Public Schools Help-a-Student Fund for nine years. This year Bank to Bay has selected Communities In Schools (CIS) of Tacoma as their charity partner. This organization also has strong core beliefs in kids, schools, family, and community. CIS of Tacoma is one of 194 local affiliates serving kids in 27 states in more than 3,250 educational sites. CIS is the nation's largest dropout prevention organization.
