Wake up for Wapato on Nov. 7

Oct 30, 2009

Instead of hitting the snooze button on November 7, join us at Wapato Park from 10am to 2 pm to learn how our actions at home and in the park can help improve the quality the Lake.

The day will be filled with fun hands-on activities:
  • Go out on the lake with UW Tacoma students to learn about water quality monitoring and data collection.
  • Participate in a water monitoring and sampling session.
  • Join a litter control clean-up crew.
  • Be part of a work party to help weed the shoreline plantings along the lake
Join together with Friends of Wapato Lake as part of a comprehensive effort to restore this treasured urban lake. Neighbors, students from the University of Washington Environmental Sciences Program, and a host of lake enthusiasts are teaming up with Metro Parks and the City of Tacoma to help enhance and protect Wapato Lake's water quality through monitoring, research, outreach and advocacy.
