New recreational opportunities designed specifically for youth with disabilities
Jun 30, 2009
Metro Parks' Specialized Recreation program, which has served people with disabilities for more than 55 years, is expanding its services to provide new recreational opportunities designed specifically for youth age 14 and under.
After seeing a large influx of younger participants within current Specialized Recreation programs, staff responded by tailoring a new mix of activities with this young audience in mind. Combining ideas from the public along with experience and knowledge from staff programmers, an assortment of activities including miniature golf, swimming, bowling, multimedia art and a series of socials has been developed to provide summer fun for our growing group of youth participants. For additional options please checkout seasonal Special Olympic Sports, and open parties.
Metro Parks is committed to providing accessible opportunities for all members of the community. To participate in any activity offered by the District please submit an accommodation request by calling the Inclusion Team at 253-591-5314.
