Moonlit Halloween Run through Point Defiance Park

October 27, 2012

Runners and walkers who dare to enter the Black Cat fun run, held Saturday, Oct. 27 along Point Defiance Park’s Five Mile Drive will be treated to a race unlike any other in Tacoma!

The Halloween-themed event features a glowing race course through the woods, costume contest and family friendly fun.

runnersThis spooktacular fun run begins at 6 pm and is guaranteed to turn an evening of ghoulish exercise into a howling good time. Costumes are encouraged--especially glowing, reflective or lighted costumes. Glow sticks, headlamps, flashlights and decorated strollers will add to the fun.

Ghouls, goblins and humans with a desire for devilish fun can choose from two routes—5 miles or 2.5 miles. Both courses begin and end near the kiosk at the Pearl Street entrance to Point Defiance Park and both are chip-timed.

Walkers, kids and strollers are welcome to join the moonlit merriment!

The finish line party will include a costume contest, door prizes, music, snacks and beverages (water, coffee, tea, hot cocoa).

Volunteers are being recruited for a variety of duties including parking monitor, set-up, take-down, course monitor and registration table. Volunteers receive a free long-sleeve race t-shirt along with the gratitude of race organizers and participants!
