Public invited to participate in budget process

The 2013-14 Budget process continues this month, beginning with a Committee of the Whole discussion about the Executive Director’s Recommended Budget on November 19. While no public testimony is taken as part of this discussion, the public is welcome to attend to learn more about the programs and services included in the recommended budget.

The 2nd Public Hearing for the budget will take place on November 26, during which citizens may testify either during Public Comments or as part of the Hearing. Final Reading and adoption of the budget will take place on December 10.

October 29	Presentation of Executive Director's Recommended Budget to the Board of Park Commissioners and Public Hearing #1 Monday, October 29, 5:30 pm Metro Parks Headquarters, Board Room 4702 S. 19th Street Read the Agenda  Budget summary handout: Study Session Public Hearing #1 Oct 29, 2012 This public Hearing took place during the normally scheduled Committee of the Whole meeting. This was the first of two opportunities for citizens to provide formal comment to the Board regarding the recommended budget for 2013-14.
November 19	Committee of the Whole Monday, November 19, 5:30pm Budget discussion This is an opportunity for the board to discuss the 2013-14 budget with the Executive Director and staff. No public comment taken.
November 26	Study Session/First Reading and Public Hearing #2 Monday, November 26, 6pm First Reading and Public Hearing #2 Agenda Nov. 26, 2012   Study Session begins at 5:30 pm Metro Parks Headquarters, Board Room This is the second opportunity for citizens to provide formal comment to the Board regarding the recommended Budget for 2013-14.
December 10	Final Reading and Board Adoption of 2013-14 Budget Monday, December 10, 6pm Metro Parks Headquarters, Board Room This is a regular board meeting, so although the public doesn’t have the chance to testify as part of the 2nd reading of the budget resolution, there is a public comment opportunity at the beginning of every meeting during which citizens can discuss any topic with the board.
