PARK IMPROVEMENTS
2008-2011 - New playground, sprayground, landscaping (including rain gardens and eco-turf), furnishings, skate park, trail elements, parking lot repair and resurface, and restroom with eco-friendly green roof. Work was funded by the Parks Improvement Bond Measure, approved by the citizens of Tacoma in November of 2005. A bridge and bench to complement the rain gardens was donated by the Center at Norpoint Foundation Committee (Ricardo & Kim McLaughlin, Pam Leach and Marion Weed). Design was by GGLO and contractors were S&W Utility and Wyser Construction.
Project Manager: Kristi Evans, (253) 305-1054
2008 - Concept Plan completed to guide future improvements to this park.
COMMUNITY CENTER IMPROVEMENTS
Current/2013 - ADA improvements to the pool including adding lifts, hand rails, transfer bars and booster seats. Work is anticipated to be done by May 11.
New Mechanical Plant 2013 - In July 2011, Air Systems was invited to partner with Johnson Controls Energy Solutions Group to build a new and upgraded energy-efficient mechanical plant for the center. Two highly energy-efficient boilers, 17 air-handler coils, and five pumps and heat exchangers for the pools, domestic hot water and space heating were installed during a three-week shutdown. This environmental control project is expected to reduce energy consumption by 54% and save approximately $33,000 per year.
