Chief Leschi Trial Revisited (Homeschool series)

Age 13 - 18 yrs

This four session class provides opportunities to learn and experience Washington State history at the same time. Dramatically and accurately re-creating the historic trial of Chief Leschi, students role-play judges, juries, attorneys, prosecution and defense witnesses and the accused as well as other characters. Students study detailed legal plans, background readings for roles, and descriptions of the historical aftermath of this infamous trial. Genevieve Allen, is a certified teacher and long-time Ft. Nisqually volunteer and regularly teaches history to home school groups.

Lovely Lavender Wands

Age 14 yrs and up

If you savor the fragrance of lavender and like hand-crafting you will love this class! It involves a very basic basket-weaving technique weaving ribbon among lavender stalks to enclose the blooms. The wands and their scent can last for years. All materials are supplied by us.

Adapting Historic Recipes to Modern Times

Age 16y to adult

Come watch as Lawrence Bradley demonstrates making "Mrs Dalgairns Beef, Leek and Barley Stew?", a historic recipe using ingredients common to the 19th century. Learn what it takes to make sense of historic recipes. This two hour class will allows you to experience cooking mid 19th century style.
