Note: Below you will find information pertaining to Metro Parks' field rental policies. To secure outlying field space for your tournament and/or league, please review this information. Rental confirmation will not be given until all of the requirements are met (liability insurance, deposit and completed rental form).

Weekend Tournament Rentals
Weekend tournament rentals are available Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day Weekend through one week prior to Labor Day. Some fields may not be available due to Metro Park District league play.

Weekend League Rentals

  • Softball Leagues

    • League rentals are available on Sundays from May 1 through one week prior to Labor Day. League play cannot start prior to 10 a.m. on Sundays. Some fields may not be available due to Metro Park District league play.
  • Soccer & Rugby Leagues
    • Weekend league rentals are available Saturdays and/or Sundays from Labor Day Weekend through February 1. Some fields may not be available due to field rehabilitation or closures by Metro Parks. Some fields may be scheduled for multiple activities, therefore requiring shared use by different user groups. Metro Parks reserves the right to coordinate and change rental dates and times, and will notify each group involved as soon as possible. Only those fields with scheduled games will be lined and/or have goal posts erected. Field repairs or lining is not allowed unless the maintenance division of Metro Parks gives prior permission. Rental Request Deadlines
Previous facility rental requests and deposits are due no later than April 1 for the May through August rentals. Deadline for September through February rentals is August 15. Previous field rentals meeting the deadline will receive priority in reserving fields. Rental requests will not receive confirmation until all Metro Park District activities have been scheduled.

Rental Confirmations
All rental requests will receive a copy of the 'Athletic Facility Request Form' confiming their rental status. NOTE: The submission of a rental request does not guarantee the use of a particular field.

Fees

Rental Fees
The Board of Park Commissioners on a yearly basis establishes rental fees. Contact the Metro Parks athletic staff for current rental fees. (253-305-1015)

Rental Deposits
A deposit is due with each tournament or single game field request submitted and for each seasonal league request.
The deposit will be applied to the final balance of the rental fees.

Balance of Fees
The balance of the rental fees is due in full by the Tuesday prior to the rental start date.

Refunds

Rental Request Withdrawn
Facility rentals withdrawing their request two weeks prior to their event will receive a refund, subject to a $25 administrative service charge. Any withdrawals within two weeks of the rental will result in forfeiture of the deposit in full.

Tournament Cancellations
Tournaments canceled due to inclement weather and unsafe playing conditions will receive a refund. The refunded amount will be based on the following:

  • 100% refund if the tournament is canceled prior to games being played.
  • % based on number of games played versus total number of games scheduled.


Softball Tournament/League Schedules
Tournament schedules are due to the athletics office no later than noon on the Tuesday prior to the tournament or start of league play. Full payment must be made at this time.

Maintenance for Softball Rentals
When requested, outlying fields will be prepared once at the beginning of each day of the tournament or game. Fields will be dragged and lined. Chalk marks will be made where bases should be placed. Facility renter is responsible for providing bases. Rental fees for outlying fields are lower due to limited maintenance service.

The maintenance personnel will make the decision regarding the playability of fields. If the infield has not been dragged and lined due to inclement weather then all games are canceled. When games are in progress, the umpire or person in charge will then make the decision to continue a game or stop play.

Additional Information

Liability Insurance
All facility tournament and league rentals require a liability insurance certificate, naming the Metropolitan Park District of Tacoma as additional insured. The policy must be for a minimum of one million dollars ($1,000,000). The certificate is due when the balance of the rental fee is paid, and no later than noon Tuesday prior to the rental. Failure to comply will result in the rental being canceled. (This is not required for a single game rental.)

Restrooms
Outlying fields restrooms will be opened and closed by Metro Parks Maintenance Staff. Restrooms are winterized on an annual basis and may be closed in the late fall due to weather conditions.
