Board Advisory Councils & Citizen Committees

Citizens provide valuable input on Metro Parks Tacoma programs and facilities. They assess community needs and desires on such topics as policies, budgets, programming, operations and future needs, and then make recommendations to staff members and the Board of Park Commissioners.



Board Advisory Councils
Board Advisory Council members, appointed by the Board of Park Commissioners, may serve up to two consecutive three-year terms. Advisory Council Application Form. Opportunities for volunteers interested in our Advisory Councils include:

Active Lifestyles & Community Wellness Advisory Council: will address adult sports and fitness, swimming and aquatic programs, youth programming, specialized recreation and other programs, facilities and services in the Metro Parks Tacoma inventory which promote active lifestyles and community wellness.

Advise on the development, continuation and promotion of golf course activities. Appraise existing and future needs for programs, facilities and services, and recommend plans to meet the needs.

Northwest Youth Sports Alliance (NYSA) Advisory Board: Advise and support the organized, scheduled activities of the sports and aquatic program by identifying community needs and resources. Aid in a city-wide design to meet program outcomes. Facilitate venues that support the program.
