August 29 Centre at Norpoint, 4818 Nassau Ave. NE
Concert: Rich Wetzel's Groovin' Higher Jazz Orchestra, a 15 piece high- intensity jazz and music experience.
Additional activities:
Get back to the center of it all at the Centre at Norpoint Summer Bash! This free community festival celebrates the last hurrah of summer with music, food, kids' activities and dance performances.

- Admission is FREE
- Seating is on the lawn so attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or a folding chair.

July 25 Wright Park, 501 South I St.
Concert: Hybrid, jazz with a mix of old and new school
Movie: Kung Fu Panda, rated PG
Additional activities:
Spend the whole day at Wright Park enjoying Ethnic Fest, the multi-cultural festival that has entertained Tacoma since 1986. At Ethnic Fest experience performing and visual arts, crafts, dancing, and foods from cultures around the globe.
August 1 South Park, 4851 S. Tacoma Way
Concert: Danny Vernon and the Devilles, the music of Elvis
Additional activities:
Enjoy a classic car cruise-in and an Elvis costume contest for both youth and adults. The sprayground will be open during this event so bring a swimsuit and towel. The kids can burn off energy in the bouncy house and make some fun summer crafts. Note: to To enter the Elvis contest or to display a car at the cruise-in call (253) 591-5299.
August 8 Portland Avenue Park, 3513 Portland Ave
Concert: Miho & Diego, a blend of Latino, Japanese, African and American musical traditions
Movie: Surf's Up, rated PG.
Additional activities:
Visit the World Vision back-to-school carnival from 2 to 6 p.m. This annual event is designed to help kids get ready for the school year. Afterwards, stick around for a lively concert and family-friendly movie.
August 15 McKinley Playfield, 4321 McKinley Ave.
Concert: Banda Rincon, Mexican banda music/Latin
Additional activities:
Special activities for kids and families will be available, including pony rides, face painting and more! The sprayground will be open until 8 p.m., so bring a swimsuit and towel.
August 22 Vassault Park, 6100 N. 37th St.
Concert: Jonathan Harris, country
Movie: Twilight, rated PG-13
Additional activities:
Summer Sounds and Cinema returns to Vassault Park after a brief hiatus to allow completion of several improvement projects, which were made possible by the passage of the 2005 Park Improvement Bond. Tonight, celebrate the grand re-opening of the park and the completion of these projects.
