Point Defiance Park Master Plan

Follow the planning process
(Click on a step in the process below to find out more about it):

After a year of celebrating Point Defiance Park's Centennial in 2005, Metro Parks wants to discover the depth of ideas that Tacoma has for the Park's next 100 years.  Point Defiance has been divided into three Planning Areas – Waterfront, Attractions, and Forest. Each area will go through a public process designed to solicit ideas, review and refine those ideas, and develop a draft concept plan before moving on to the next area.  All plans and alternatives are evaluated per the Goals and Objectives for Point Defiance Park.  In the end, the three concept plans will be combined into a Planning Guide for the Point Defiance Park.
