Puget Sound Brass Camp

Puget Sound Brass Camp is an exciting, non-competitive music camp designed for players of varying abilities with three or more years of playing experience, graduating grade eight through college freshmen. A collaboration between the Community Music Department of the University of Puget Sound and Metro Parks, this week long camp experience will offer students the opportunity to study with highly qualified university-affiliated faculty and professional brass musicians in a university setting. Trumpet, tuba, trombone, euphonium/baritone, and French horn students will be able to improve their skills, perform new works, and interact with peers who share an interest in music. Students will be placed in chamber groups with other students of similar ability. The camp will culminate with a concert for family, friends, and community members at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, in Schneebeck Concert Hall in the School of Music at University of Puget Sound.
Camp meets Tues, Weds, Thurs, Fri from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Ted Brown Music Camps
6/22 – 7/16
Through activities designed to encourage exploration of new opportunities in music, campers with little or no experience have an opportunity to try out a wide range of instruments. Test have proven that enrollment in a school music program will increase your child's proficiency in mathematics, listening, teamwork and many other valuable skills. Instruments will be provided for each student. This program partially funded through Ted Brown Outreach.

Choose from four camp sessions:
session 1-Woodwinds held 6/22-6/25,
session 2-Brass held 6/29-7/2,
session 3-Strings held 7/6-7/9,
session 4-Percussion held 7/13-7/16.

All sessions meet Mon-Thurs from 9:30-11:30am.

Middle School Band Camp
07/06 - 07/16
This camp is designed for those students who have had one or more years of school band. Keep your chops sharp by continuing to play during the summer and have fun with others who share the joy of making music. The Band will meet for two weeks of sectional and full band rehearsals with a concert at the end of the camp. Students need to provide their own instruments. Camp is located at Ted Brown Music, 6228 Tacoma Mall Blvd. Final performance to be held at noon on Friday July 17. Guitar Camp

Learn the basic skills to play guitar this summer. This week long camp will provide instruction in basic music theory as well as an introduction to playing the guitar. We will learn rhythms, the music alphabet and creativity will be encouraged by making up songs. We will cover basic chords for songs we can sing together as well as note reading and other guitar techniques. The final class will include an open session where parents are invited to hear the class play in an informal setting.
Camp meets daily from 10:30 a.m. – Noon.
