Playground Adventure Bus keeps kids on the move!
Jul 28, 2010
New this year, the Playground Adventure Bus program is being offered in conjunction with the Summer Playground Program to provide unique free field trips for kids and families. Busses will depart from playground sites and drive to various destinations around Tacoma. Each adventure includes a craft project, activities, and lots of fun and physical activities!
Hop on board in August for three great adventures designed just for youth, plus three trips for the whole family.
On August 3 busses will take kids to and from Cheney Stadium for a Rainiers game including a pre-game autograph session. On August 11 youth will visit Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and on August 18 the kids will be treated to a fun-filled “field day” at Heidelberg Field.
These youth field trips run from 10:30 am-3:30 pm, are free for kids ages 6-12 and include a sack lunch for each child. Participants will be supervised by Metro Parks playground staff for the duration of the field trip. Each participant must submit a completed registration form for each trip. Forms can be obtained at any Summer Playground Program site.
On three Saturdays in August families are invited to come along and head to the beach! The busses will drive to Titlow Beach on August 7, Dash Point Park on August 14 and Owen Beach in Point Defiance Park on August 21.
Family Adventure Bus trips are open to all ages, run from 10:30 am-3:30 pm and include a barbeque lunch. Cost is $5 per person. Each participant must submit a completed registration form for each trip. Forms can be obtained at any Summer Playground Program site.
