Scout Badge Programs

GIRL & BOY SCOUT BADGE PROGRAMS
The Tacoma Nature Center is the ideal place for enjoying and learning about nature and the environment. We offer council-wide Girl Scout badge workshops and individual troop programs for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.
- Call the Nature Center at (253) 591-6439 to register for a troop program or a council-wide workshop. Or, email marjories@tacomaparks.com with an questions.
- Dates fill quickly so register early.
- Two week minimum notice is needed for troop programs.
- Staff is available Tuesday - Saturday.
- We are unable to offer any scout programs June - mid-September.
- Minimum payment for an individual troop program is for 10 Scouts and must be made at time of reservation.
- Adults are free and must provide appropriate adult:child ratio.
- Siblings are discouraged as the program is designed for the scouts. If siblings do attend, they need to be included in the reserved total and are charged the full fee.

GIRL SCOUT WORKSHOPS
The Tacoma Nature Center is the ideal place for Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts to earn traditional nature and outdoor Try-Its and Badges. And now, girls can begin or continue their journey with workshops focusing on the "It's Your Planet - Love It" series.
Troops or individual Girl Scouts can register for these popular workshops and complete the needed requirements with hands-on activities, crafts, and guided hikes.
- Adults must accompany girls according to Safety-Wise rules.
- Girls registering individually must be accompanied by an adult.
- Registration deadline two weeks before workshop date.

Daisy Day at the Tacoma Nature Center

A special day just for Daisies at the Tacoma Nature Center! Here is a great way to step into the Leadership Journeys with the girls, continue your travels with them Between Earth & Sky, or just enjoy a day in nature and fun activities! Must be a Daisy Girl Scout to attend.

WOW! LOVE Water Journey Workshop

Snake Lake at Tacoma Nature Center is the perfect place to get to know the many ways water is used by people and wildlife, enjoy a guided hike along our wetlands trail, and discover ways to protect this precious resource, including how to fix a leaky faucet! Girls will earn the LOVE Water segment of the WOW! journey awards. Must be a Brownie Girl Scout to attend.

Hiker Badge Workshop

Explore the trails at Tacoma Nature Center as Nature Detectives. Get tips on the best clothing, gear and snacks to take on your next adventure through games and stories. Earn the Hiker Badge while having fun with your friends! Must be a Brownie Girl Scout to attend.

Animal Habitats Badge Workshop

Discvoer the many animals in the wetland and forest habitats of Tacoma Nature Center and the ways they build their homes, protect their young, and survive in teh wild. Spend time with one of our teaching animals as you learn ways you can protect the habitats of our wild neighbors. Earn the Animal Habitats Badge. Must be a Junior Girl Scout to attend.

Leader in Action Badge Workshop

Learn what it takes to earn the LiA badge at this hands-on workshop. Tacoma Nature Center staff will teach the tips and tricks of exploring nature with younger children with games, outdoor hikes and activities. Work with staff to plan and prepare to lead activities of the Brownie WOW! Wonders of Water journey. Then put your skills into action at an upcoming nature center event or with your local Brownie troop, and earn your LiA! Must be a Cadette Girl Scout to participate.

BROWNIE TROOP TRY-ITS
Tacoma Nature Center is where your troop can earn some of the newest Brownie Badges!
Try-It troop programs are $12.00 per girl and are 2-1/2 hours long. Note - Purchase of badges is the responsibility of the troop leader, available through the Girl Scout Store.

Tacoma Nature Center is where your troop can earn some of the newest Junior Badges! Junior Badge programs are $12.00 per girl and are 2-1/2 hours long. Note - Purchase of badges is the responsibility of the troop leader, available through the Girl Scout Store.

CUB SCOUT TROOP PROGRAM
Bear Rank: Sharing Your World with Wildlife*
Troop programs are $10.00 per boy and are 2 hours long.
Boys fulfill requirements for Sharing Your World with Wildlife with hands-on activities and games that teach about conservation careers, endangered animals of the Pacific Northwest, and a simple bird feeder. A guided hike will explore the wildlife and wetlands habitat of Snake Lake.

WEBELOS TROOP PROGRAM
Naturalist Activity Badge*
Troop programs are $12.00 per boy and are 2 1/2 hours long.
Boys complete the requirements of the Naturalist Badge with their visit to the nature center. Games and activities will teach bird identification and explore the amazing adaptations and behaviors of our feathered friends. Learn about the role of wildlife and humans in ecosystems, with a focus during a guided hike on the aquatic animals and wetland habitat of Snake Lake.
