SPARX is a middle-school based youth development program on the school campus created to inspire and enable students to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

SPARX provides opportunities for students to play learn and grow. 

SPARX is in all nine of Tacoma's middle schools: Baker, First Creek, Giaudrone, Gray, Jason Lee, Mason, Meeker, Stewart, Truman. (Note: Meeker SPARX participants meet at the Center at Norpoint).

It is coordinated by Metro Parks with funding support from the City of Tacoma and facility support from Tacoma Public Schools.

SPARX PROVIDES AFTER-SCHOOL...

  • Sports & Fitness, Cultural Arts, and Outdoor & Nature Clubs.
  • Lunch Time Quick Burst Activities
  • Mentoring and ongoing Student & Homework Support
  • In-Service Day and Holiday Field Trips & Events
  • (fee based – scholarships available)
IN SPARX:
Middle Schoolers are getting the added spark they need to get connected, stay in school, and achieve.

No need to worry about getting home from SPARX. The Activity Bus departs from all the participating schools at 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday. Please check with your school's activity bus schedule for changes.
