CHIP-in! has several special events throughout the year, each with a different set of goals in mind, but all with the ultimate goal of improving our parks and natural areas.

TRAILS DAY took place on June 1, 2013 at Point Defiance Park from 9 am to noon. We celebrated National Trails Day at our local parks by doing trail improvements to help our existing trail system. |

PITCH IN FOR PUPS took place on July 21, 2012 from 9 am to noon at Point Defiance Park. We focused on improving the off leash area at Point Defiance Park for our four-legged friends. 2013 date TBA |

UNITED WAY DAY OF CARING takes place in partnership with the United Way on September 20, 2013 from 9 am to 1 pm. Each year, the United Way challenges corporate groups and individuals to get involved in local community projects on the 3rd Friday in September. Metro Parks Tacoma hosts or co-hosts sites in order to improve our natural areas and nature-centered facilities. |

WAKE UP FOR WAPATO September 22, 2012 from 10 am to 2 pm. This event kicked off the Wapato Sustainability Project and let participants try out recent park improvements including a new loop trail around the lake and new dog park! 2013 date TBA |

GREEN TACOMA DAY October 20, 2012 from 10 am to 1 pm. This event takes place at multiple parks throughout the nation and is in conjunction with National Publics Lands Day. Martin Luther King Junior Day of Caring Sites at Franklin & Titlow Parks took place January 21, 2013 from 8 am-1 pm. Types of activities included litter pick up, trim back bushes and plantings, and repair trails and natural areas. Individual volunteers just reported and signed in. Groups pre-registered. PARKS APPRECIATION DAY took place on April 20, 2013 in several parks all throughout Pierce County, from 9 am to Noon. We celebrated Earth Day, Arbor Day, National Parks Week and your local parks in one fun event by sprucing up the parks to prepare them for the summer season. |
