LISA'S GARDEN
Planting Lisa's Garden in 2010 in Stewart Heights ParkLocated  in the northeast portion of Stewart Heights Park, this memorial garden was planted by Safe Streets groups that worked with Lisa Marie Melancon, a 40-year-old city code enforcement officer. She died July 22, 2010 after being hit in the head by a bullet fired from a car fleeing a fistfight in front of her Tacoma home. Metro Parks Tacoma donated two trees, ground cover plants and time to prepare the site. The planting was done October 30, 2010. Neighbors are now raising money to have a rock engraved with 'Lisa's Garden' placed on the site.
