Thea’s Park (3.4 acres/established in 1997) sits at the entrance to the Foss Waterway in Tacoma’s downtown waterfront. Watch ships and tugboats coming and going, cranes lifting cargo at the busy Port, take a stroll along the esplanade, visit the historic warehouses, and the Murray Morgan Bridge. You may also glimpse floatplanes, harbor seals, sea lions, and kayakers. A gangway from the Park takes visitors out onto the North Moorage float where guests can tie up their boat for the day.
PARK IMPROVEMENTS
2008 - Contributed to the City of Tacoma/Foss Waterway Development Authority (FWDA) to install a new ADA gangway and landing float to Thea's Park. Additional components of this project included replacement of the wharf on the Balfour dock building, adding a gangway to a public pier from the Balfour Wharf, a new 1,200 foot float and associated utilities. The gangway belongs to City of Tacoma. The FWDA owner's association maintains all of the promenade public spaces. Maintaining and managing use of the float is the responsiblity of the Seaport Museum.
