Ursich Park is wild and full of native habitat. It is a prime example of an urban greenbelt.

In 1988, a new 2.7 acre park opened where Buckley Gulch intersects with North 29th Street. The park was named Catherine A. Ursich Park.

About Catherine Ursich
Catherine worked for the City of Tacoma for 23 years rising through the ranks to become acting City Clerk at the time of her retirement. She was elected to serve two terms on the Tacoma Civil Service Board and was an active member of the Old Tacoma Improvement Club.

She was also a member of the Slavonian American Benevolent Society and active in the restoration of the Slavonian Hall. Because of her volunteer efforts to improve the Old Town neighborhood, residents petitioned the city to name the park in her honor.
