Volunteer

Our volunteer programs supports programs throughout the park district including environmental education, habitat stewardship, living history interpretation, sports coaching, participation assistance for individuals with intellectual disabilities, park watch patrols and professional expertise as members of advisory councils.

  • In 2016 volunteers donated a total of 147,405 hours, equal to 71 FTEs, with a calculated value of $3,472,862.
  • The annual Parks Appreciation Day in 2016 engaged 700 volunteers for Metro Parks Tacoma projects.

At Metro Parks, our mission is to create healthy opportunities to play, learn and grow. Moving our mission forward would not be possible without the countless hours of service volunteers give to our parks and programs and to the people who enjoy them.
