Ways to Support

Corporate Sponsorship

Corporate Sponsorship

Businesses searching for creative, interactive ways to reach new, loyal and active customers are invited to contact Metro Parks Tacoma to learn about sponsorship opportunities.

Metro Parks Tacoma’s 2,960 acres of parks, state of the art facilities and wide ranging programs help to make Tacoma and Pierce County more livable for all.

Now you can help support these important community programs and assets through sponsorship.

Our sponsorship program is designed to effectively market local and national businesses while making a positive impact on our community. The goal of the program is to recruit businesses to support the District’s parks and recreation system by sponsoring essential programs, services, and facilities, all of which serve the needs of children, youth, and older adults.

Unlike other traditional forms of advertising, our sponsorships allow a business to be associated with the positive benefits of a community event or recreation program. Whatever your marketing needs, we have a distinct sponsorship opportunity that can complement your plan.

Your sponsorship will assist us in enhancing programs for our residents and visitors without compromising environmental integrity. As a partner with the District, you are demonstrating positive corporate citizenship and gaining greater visibility within the community.

Memorial Gifts

Memorial Gifts

Our parks, gardens and open spaces are part of what makes living in Tacoma so special. The gift of a park bench is a great way to honor or remember a loved one and support Metro Parks Tacoma.

Memorial donations will only be accepted with the full understanding and agreement of the donor that Metro Parks Tacoma may dispose of any donated item when it reaches the end of its useful life as determined by the appropriate District department. The applicable department, at its sole discretion, determines if the donation is unsuitable, unusable or surplus to the District’s needs.

Adopting a park bench, picnic table, tree or bush is considered a tax deductible donation through the Greater Metro Parks Foundation. If you are interested, contact Melissa Baty-McGovern in the Resource Development office at melissab@tacomaparks.com or (253) 305-1052.

Adopt a Park Bench

New Bench with plaque in a new location $5000
Currently no bench is located there.

New Bench with plaque in an existing location $4000
Replace an existing bench that is at the end of its useful life.

  • Different benches are used in various parks. The type of bench used is determined by the Superintendent for Parks Maintenance in accordance with the park’s master plan.
  • The life of a park bench is approximately 10 years. However, if the bench is moved, stolen, broken, or otherwise rendered unfit for continued use or exhibition, the park bench may be disposed of when it reaches the end of its useful life (as determined by Metro Parks Tacoma). Historic and Cultural Resources and Resource Development shall make every effort to notify the donor before the disposition of the park bench to allow them to adopt a park bench again in the same location or have the plaque returned to them.
  • Due to construction in and around Point Defiance Park, we are not currently able to accept donations for benches in these areas.
