Gold Medal Award
Metro Parks Tacoma, a Gold Medal winner in 1985 and 1992, was one of four finalists in its population category in 2017. This success is a direct result of the support we receive from the community and from our partnerships with other local agencies. Tacomans value their parks and we're proud to be able to provide award-winning levels of service.
We'd like to congratulate the winners of the National Gold Medal Awards for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management. The announcement was made on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) conference in New Orleans.
- The Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) recognizes park and recreation agencies for excellence in operation and service.
- Agency accreditation is available to all entities administering park and recreation systems, including municipalities, townships, counties, special districts and regional authorities, councils of government, schools, and military installations.
