Saturday, November 4 (10:00am - 12:00pm)
People have been preserving food by salting, smoking, drying and pickling for throusands of years and it can still be done today. Pork, and specifrically bacon, was one of the staples that crossed cultural and class boundaries to be consumed by almost everyone. Bacon is made by curing a pork belly which is a cheap and economc way to provide protein to a diet. Making bacon is a heritage skill that anyone can employ to enrich their modern life. In this hands on workshop participants will learn to cure bacon and will take home instructions to make their own at home. You must be at least 16 years old to participate.
