Chief Financial Officer
Prior to his appointment as CFO, Erwin had extensive leadership roles in state government. Most recently he served as chief financial officer for the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs, where he managed a $125.7 million biennial operating budget and a $46.9 million capital budget. As CFO he helped set the agency’s strategic direction and legislative priorities; ensured fiscal responsibility; and helped create an inclusive, performance-based culture.
Erwin also provided leadership in different capacities with the Washington State Investment Board – first as the Finance and Budget Director, then as an Investment Officer in the Real Estate division where he was responsible for underwriting, negotiating and closing on diverse real estate investment opportunities domestically and internationally. He also served as Chief Financial Officer for Western State Hospital – planning and directing the development of the hospital’s biennium operating and capital budgets, providing oversight of internal controls and general accounting services, as well as serving as sponsor of quality improvement initiatives.
Erwin holds his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Organizational Psychology from The Evergreen State College
