A minimum enrollment is required for all classes. Registration and payment is required at least two working days before each program.

Explore Tacoma's Parks during this free naturalist-led walk. Discover amazing plants and animals and how they adapt to the seasons. Walks are organized and led by Tacoma Nature Center staff. Download the flyer  here.

Not recommended for strollers or children under 3.

Pre-registration is required.

These events are FREE but space is limited.
You may sign up online or by calling the Tacoma Nature Center at (253) 404-3930.

Please note that scouts from any organization are welcome on these walks, but they need to be in family groups, not in troops. We have special offerings for scout troops as the limited space on these family walks is reserved for family groups. Thank you for your cooperation!

Nature Center Frog  LITTLE SPROUTS
  Ages 2-4 years
$5.00 per child, $4.00/TNC or Tahoma Audubon member child
Join our partner in education, Tahoma Audubon for an hour of fun with your littlest ones! This program features story-time, sensory-based activities, songs and outside time, all focused on the natural world. Pre-registration encouraged.

Nature Center Frog  NATURE YOGA
  Ages 18 months to 12 years old + adults (adult must accompany children)
$15.00/adult-child combo, $5.00 for each additional child or adult
Fun, child-centered activities and nature poses are combined with time-honored yoga practice to guide children and an adult partner through warm-up, work-out, strengthen, cool down and relaxation.  Adult attendance is required.  Participants may bring yoga mats or use those provided. Drop-ins welcome if the class is not already full - call ahead to check on status. A portion of the class will be outdoors so come dressed for the weather and in layers appropriate for the indoor section.

Adults with younger children should feel free to leave after the first 60 minutes but the program will last 75 minutes.

Join us for an aquatic night-time adventure as you explore hundreds of mysterious life forms below the docks with experienced naturalists! Pre-registration required.

Pier Peer in Tacoma – Point Defiance Marina
Ages 8 and up, $10/person, no member discount available
Bring your family for an aquatic night-time adventure to explore mysterious marine life below the docks. Warm up afterward with hot cocoa. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required.

   Learn about snails, clams, octopus and squid!

Ages 5 and up, $10/person, $9/member
Discover a fun new outdoor activity combining treasure hunting with rubber stamping. Learn how to create a letterbox, make your own stamp and passport, then head outdoors to discover the secret treasures of Snake Lake.  Each adult may only bring up to two children due to the supervision required during the activity.

No workshops are currently scheduled - contact us if you would like to book one of these programs for your group. Minimum of 10 paid participants.


Bring your family to explore the beach, learn about tide pool life and have lots of fun during some of the lowest tides of the year. A naturalist will guide low-tide beach exploration. Free!

Meet at Titlow Beach. Wear shoes to protect from the rocky beach and bring plenty of water and sunscreen. For more information contact Tacoma Nature Center. Titlow Beach is located at the west end of 6th Avenue in Tacoma, near Steamers Cafe.
