101 Norpoint Way NE
Tacoma, WA 98422
This area is named to honor Julia Staney Hughes, a Puyallup-Klickitat tribal member who once lived on a float house below the gulch.
The Port of Tacoma purchased the 60-acre site in 2007. The site will remain green through a stewardship agreement with the City of Tacoma, Schnitzer Steel Industries, and Forterra.
Northeast Tacoma neighbors formed Friends of Julia’s Gulch, a group of volunteers dedicated to restoring the natural habitat on the site.
