The steep forested slopes of Julia’s Gulch create a buffer between the industrial Tideflats and residential neighborhoods in Northeast Tacoma.
Port of Tacoma LogoThe Port of Tacoma purchased the 60-acre site in 2007. The site will remain green through a stewardship agreement with the City of Tacoma, Schnitzer Steel Industries, and Forterra.

Northeast Tacoma neighbors formed Friends of Julia’s Gulch, a group of volunteers dedicated to restoring the natural habitat on the site.
