Point Defiance Park’s Five Mile Drive outer loop reopens
December 14, 2016
Water line break forced temporary closure of popular drive; access to attractions wasn’t affected
The outer loop of Five Mile Drive in Point Defiance Park was reopened late Wednesday morning after workers repaired a six-inch water line that broke near the Vashon Viewpoint. The break, in a line that went to nearby fire hydrants, forced Metro Parks to close the outer loop Tuesday morning.
Access to the rest of the park, including Fort Nisqually Living History Museum and Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, was not affected. The outer loop portion of Five Mile Drive includes several scenic viewpoints and is a popular place to drive, bicycle and walk.
