Popular spraygrounds to remain open to beat the heat

Hot forecast for September prompts Metro Parks to extend sprayground schedule
When the weather got hot last spring, Metro Parks managers opened a few spraygrounds early in the season to give folks a place to cool off.
Now, with continued above-average temperatures predicted for the first full week of September, we’re going to keep the spraygrounds open a while longer.
Instead of facing the usual weekday closures this time of year, spraygrounds outside STAR Center and in Verlo, Jefferson, Franklin, Titlow, Norpoint and Wright parks will be open on weekdays from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. through Sept. 10.
Those and the remaining spraygrounds – in Kandle, Wapato Hills and South parks – also will be open on weekends through Sept. 24. Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Ordinarily, all of Metro Parks spraygrounds close on weekdays immediately after the Labor Day weekend, and continue to be open weekends through the end of September.
