#CelebrateEastside brings a new community center to Tacoma
October 20, 2018: the day Eastside Community Center opened.
Were you there?
Somewhere in the neighborhood of 3,000 people attended the grand opening, and this edition of Metro Parks Today offers photos and video from that special day. Click here for images, click below to watch the video. And if you want to experience the center yourself—it was built for you, after all—all you have to do is stop in or check the center’s web page.
EnvisionOurWaterfront workshop draws a crowd
About 100 people attended a visioning workshop for Ruston Way and the future of Tacoma’s waterfront. The late-October scene down at Court House Square was full of people arranging puzzle pieces on cross-sections of Ruston Way and talking about what amenities, infrastructure and other features ought to be there.
After this round of public input, consultants for the joint Metro Parks-City of Tacoma project will take the comments into consideration and work through some different plans that might be available by the end of the year.
In the meantime, you’re still welcome to check out the project page and think about your vision for the waterfront.
