Searching far and wide: Pokémon trainer discount at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium
Pokémon trainers will be happy to learn that their love of Dratini, Tentacool, Venonat and Squirtle can earn them a discount at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium this month.
Each visitor with the Pokémon Go app can get a discount of $3 off general admission every Sunday in September.
That means there are three Pokémon Sundays remaining this month: Sept. 11, 18, and 25.
In addition to all of the usual animal-watching opportunities, zoo admission gives players access to 15 PokéStops along walking paths. It’s a safe and beautiful place to catch and train “pocket monsters” with friends and family.
Players can stock up on potions and stardust, hatch eggs by walking, and defend their team’s honor at the Pokémon gym located in the zoo parking lot.
To give players an extra boost, zoo staff will place lures on PokéStops along walking trails between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to attract Pokémon. Abundant Pokémon encounters are guaranteed.
Kids’ Zone, home to lemurs, dart frogs, meerkats and other delightful real-world critters, is a notable hotspot for Pokémon trainers. Three PokéStops are within close range of each other, and with lures attached, it’s a Pokémon-catching frenzy.
Players 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
