CHIP-in! has several special events throughout the year, each with a different set of goals in mind, but all with the ultimate goal of improving our parks and natural areas.

Parks Appreciation Day LOGO 2016

PARKS APPRECIATION DAY
Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 9 am to noon
Do something good for the earth! 

Participants are needed to spruce up local parks by trimming limbs, grooming grounds, combing beaches and planting more flowers and trees. This annual event draws thousands of volunteers in cities throughout Pierce County, each person lending a hand to keep parks beautiful and to do a good deed for their community.

Metro Parks Tacoma sites are listed below. To join us for one of the work parties below,

  • Alderwood Park / 208 Browns Point Blvd.
  • Charlotte’s Blueberry Park / 7402 East D St.
    (Meet at the entrance to the park off of D Street.)
  • McKinley Park / 907 Upper Park St. (Meeting at the playground at the west end of the park).
  • Point Defiance Park / 5400 N. Pearl St.
    (Meet in the Visitors Center parking lot just across from the tennis courts.)
  • Wapato Park / 6500 S. Sheridan Ave. (Meeting at the waterfall, at the enterance of the park.)

Man and Two Boys Cleaning Up Trails TRAILS DAY

Celebrate Pierce County Trails Day at Oak Tree Park and Point Defiance Park by doing trail improvements to help our existing trail system.

Each year, we challenge corporate groups and individuals to get involved in local community projects in September. Sites TBA

October 13, 2018  from 10 am to 1 pm
This event takes place at multiple parks throughout the nation in conjunction with National Public Lands Day. It is delivered through the Green Tacoma Partnership with a focus centered on habitat restoration in our natural areas.
