In partnership, Tacoma Public Schools, Metro Parks Tacoma, Greentrike, Boys and Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound and the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties – are providing affordable, high quality, safe, and FUN day camps for the children of Pierce County.

July 6 – August 21, 2020
Monday – Friday
9 am – 4 pm

Extended hours available at no extra cost:
7 am early drop-off, 6 pm late pick-up

Whole Child Day Camps are packed with fun all summer long. Each week features games, crafts, and activities of camp to transport them to new adventures every day.

We have a fun-filled and action-packed camp experience planned. Kids will participate in activities like arts, sports, and more!

Cost and Eligiblity
Camp is open to any family in Pierce County and scholarships may be available. Find out if you qualify.

  • $175 per child per week
  • $85-$100 if child qualifies for reduced lunch
  • $10-$50 if child qualifies for free lunch

Extra contributions to support other families are always welcome.

What Ages Can Attend?

  • Camps for ages 6-12 are available at eight locations. (5 years olds may be accepted, please contact the specific camp location to inquire)
  • Pre-k camps for ages 3-5 are available at two locations. Children must be toilet independent.

Health and Safety

Your child’s safety is our number one priority. Camps will meet or exceed the Governor’s recommended safety measures, including appropriate distancing.

  • All students and staff will be screened for cold and flu-like symptoms before entering Day Camp.
  • Classrooms will be limited in size:
    • School age classrooms will have 9 children and 1 teacher
    • Pre-k classrooms will have 8 children and 2 teachers

To Register

  • Click on your preferred camp location below. You will be taken to that site’s registration system.
  • You will need to register each child separately.
  • Pre-K options (ages 3 to 5) are registered separately and are available at 2 locations only. Pre-K children must able to use the restroom independently.
  • Register for the full week by the Friday prior to the week you wish to select. You may sign up for as many weeks as you like.
  • After registering you will receive a confirmation and welcome letter.
  • We look forward to seeing your child at Summer Camp!

Camp is open to any family in Pierce County and scholarships may be available.

Children ages 3 – 12 are eligible to enroll in camp. Children must be able to use the restroom independently, and unfortunately, we cannot provide one on one support.

Thanks to the generosity of the funding community, the Whole Child Day Camps are underwritten to be affordable. If you will or do qualify for free or reduced lunch, or if you have a CARES voucher for childcare, scholarships and reduced rates are available.

What are Day Camp hours?

What are Day Camp hours?

Day Camp is scheduled from 9 am to 4 pm. Children must be dropped off before 10 am. Extended hours are available; drop off at 7 am and late pick up until 6 pm. You will need to indicate extended hours when you register.

Take note that there will be COVID specific drop off and pick up procedures that families will be asked to follow which will be detailed in your welcome letter.

  • All students and staff will be screened for cold and flu-like symptoms before entering Day Camp.
  • Classrooms will be limited in size:

  • Each site will have a Site Lead and 2-3 floating staff
  • Each classroom will have a cleaning kit to ensure children have access to hand soap, tissue and other necessary supplies to maintain classroom health and safety.
  • Camps will meet or exceed Dept of Health (DOH), Center for Disease Control (CDC) and (DYCF) guidelines

Who is providing care at Day Camps?

Care will be provided by four community agencies with experience and reputations of excellence in caring for and providing Day Camp experiences for children in our community.

Partners include Metro Parks Tacoma, Greentrike, Boys & Girls Club of South Puget Sound, YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties. Tacoma Public Schools is our facility partner.

All staff have undergone a background check.

Site Directors will be reviewing registrations on a weekly basis. If space opens at one of our sites, we’ll call you by 5 pm Sunday night.

Will Day Camps be equipped to serve the needs of children with special needs?

There will be no education supports for children with special needs. However, we will provide some limited health supports. Staff will not be distributing medications or providing medical procedures during camp.

What happens if a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19?

If a student or staff member alerts the Site Director of a positive COVID-19 Test, the lead building partner will contact the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department to determine if a Day Camp must be shut down due to exposure. All families in that building will be notified.

Camp participants will have access to breakfast, lunch, and a snack depending upon how long they stay at camp.

Feel free to pack a snack for your child; we know these may be long days. Please be mindful of allergies and avoid snacks that include peanuts or tree nuts.
